Tom Emmer’s Letter to Caucus Attendees

Print Letter

Dear Friend:

A Republican revolution is sweeping our nation, and tonight it is sweeping through Minnesota!

The best way to join in on the excitement we have seen in Virginia, in New Jersey, and of course most recently, in Massachusetts, is by participating in your local precinct caucus.

As a candidate for governor in 2010, I am striving to convince every Minnesotan that there is a better path for our state than the overreaching, big-government, high-tax policies we are seeing from the Democrats in Saint Paul and Washington. I am convinced that if we make the right choices in the 2010 election, I believe there is a new era of prosperity on the horizon for Minnesota.

I am a small business owner who knows what it means to sign both the front and the back of the paycheck. I know what its like to have employees depend on me to make payroll and provide health insurance for both my family and their families.

I am a husband and father trying to teach my seven children right from wrong in a society that sometimes works against our values.

I am a conservative running for Governor, fighting for the principles embedded in our platform, not a career politician looking for the next rung in a political career.

I am more hopeful about our future now than I have ever been because of meeting folks like you while traveling all over this great state of ours.

As governor, I will work with the legislature on policies and positions that will bring about long-term prosperity, not just short-term band-aids. Prosperity is on the horizon again if we stop taking money out of the hands of job creators and giving it to a well-intentioned government that fails to produce anything for the economy or the hardworking, taxpaying families of Minnesota.

Long-term prosperity is possible in Minnesota. After hearing from folks like you, the people of Minnesota are ready for an authentic and principled leader who will have the strength to make the tough decisions over the next few years – a time of economic transition for our families, our state, and our nation.

But I cannot do it alone. One thing I have learned from playing and coaching hockey is the value of teamwork. I see this campaign for governor as a team effort and the Emmer Team is working hard to bring Republican majorities to the House and Senate along with retaining the governors office.

It is truly an exciting time to be a Republican, in this country and in Minnesota. Your participation tonight is just the first step in the 2010 Minnesota Republican Revolution. So lace up your skates and join the Emmer for Governor team as we build momentum all the way to November. Join our team at EmmerForGovernor.com

Thank you for allowing me to introduce myself. I hope you will consider giving me your vote tonight in the straw poll and again at the state convention on April 30th. I will work to earn your vote and your trust to become your next governor.

God Bless you and God Bless Minnesota,

Rep. Tom Emmer
